Dearest Congregation,
We live in a fallen world that includes pain and suffering, and today is no exception. This morning our beloved Pastor George left his temporary home for his permanent one. And while his pain and suffering was great during his last days, we know he is in heaven with Jesus, jumping with joy and singing God’s praises. We imagine he is looking upon us from heaven, with a permanent smile that reflects the kind of joy that can only come from meeting The Father.
In moments like these, it’s hard to know what to do. We fought valiantly as a church, but for reasons that are beyond our understanding, Pastor George has gone to be with The Father far earlier than any of us would have liked.
This doesn’t mean that God isn’t good. This doesn’t mean that God isn’t in control. This doesn’t mean that we give up. What this does mean, is that we still live in a fallen world that needs Jesus, and it’s our calling to keep believing in Him, trusting in Him, and following Him wherever He leads us.
We are still a family, and we need each other more than ever. This is a time to grieve and grieve we must. Yet in the midst of our tears let’s remember that the time will come when we can look back at the times we shared laughter together. In the midst of our sorrow let’s look around us for our purpose, and in the midst of our pain let’s look forward to the hope we have in Christ Jesus for an eternity with Him.
Let’s walk through this together, and may God grant us all peace and mercy during this difficult time.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 11th, 2017, at 1:30 pm at Heartland Alliance Church in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Refreshments and fellowship to follow at the Hampton Inn in Sherwood Park.
We love and pray for you all unceasingly,
The Elders of Lifespring Church
